Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
