BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, many players are expressing frustration over some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Gamers have begun resorting to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to complete them, underscoring just how demanding these assignments have become.
Comprehending Battlefield 6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but while the majority merely grant skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 key firearms found within the game.
A number of these gated guns may soon find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash via Reddit
Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
One more community participant highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles
This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and perhaps a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
The Bypass
However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.
But when tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the community continues to share their thoughts on these challenging battlefield assignments, expecting a less arduous gaming experience in coming revisions.
