Alarming Video Reveals Point Police Are Stabbed in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman who rushed to the aid of a partner that was assaulted by a knifeman received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a knife to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in summer 2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.
"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his communication device.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording made public by the agency showed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife pointed forward.
He ran into the officer who stumbled and went down to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the pavement despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and waited for a clear shot, ending the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "I need assistance on my throat here, I got knifed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple open wounds to his neck and further injuries to his limbs and torso, whereas Sgt Foster experienced knife wounds.
The department reported Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his colleague's hemorrhaging before medical personnel reached the scene.
The latest award comes after the law enforcement team won departmental Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local Police Federation in early 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The efforts of the entire team ultimately saved one another and ensured no bystanders endured any harm."
Brown was given to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, per authorities.
